La Danse, une histoire à ma façon… (My own history of dance…) is a danced conference, created in 1994 and revised in 1999. This funny story is now one of French modern dance’s best sellers and has been shown over 300 times around the world. In this hilarious and moving one-man show, Dominique Boivin expresses his personal relationship to the great masters of dance and attempts to give the audience a taste for dance and the major works of the so-called "repertoire". Without ever being disrespectful, he conjures the spirit of all those who gave him the substance of his creativity, and tells his own humorous version of a chronological epic.

Beau Geste Company was founded in 1981 by 7 dancers (Dominique Boivin, Agnès David, Christine Erbé, Isabelle Job, Christine Graz, Marc Lawton, Philippe Priasso), all of whom were trained at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine, directed at the time by American choreographer Alwin Nikolaïs. The company alternates individual and group works in which each dancer is successively choreographer and performer. In 1991, Dominique Boivin, Christine Erbé and Philippe Priasso became company art directors and some of their creations have met with international and long lasting success: "Mécaniques", "La Danse, une histoire à ma façon" and "Transports exceptionnels" continue to tour the world and have been shown in over 40 different countries. Beau Geste Company focuses on each dancer’s personality and the specific way he moves; it ventures into many forms of performance (solo, cabaret, danced conferences, events, street art...) and revels in its taste for diversity, humour and euphemism.
