"Iéto" is a piece made up of seemingly disparate elements blending acrobatics and poetry: 7 massive boards weighing 40 kg each, a rope, 2 or 3 sticks, a few wedges… With these props, the two artists build, erect, and play with counterweights, suspensions and balance: a rope across the void, the squeaky of wood through the silence while the public holds its breath… This acrobatic battle of wits is the winner of Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe 2008 – the annual competition to find Europe’s best young circus artists.
Company Iéto
When Jonathan Guichard and Fnico Feldmann met in 2006, the result of the encounter led to the founding of Company Iéto. Jonathan, a tight-rope walker, was trained at Centre national des arts du cirque, in Chalons, in the Champagne region. He toured with the Romanes Circus and La Tarumba (Peruvian circus). He also taught tight-rope walking to professional classes in the Lido (the Circus School, in Toulouse). Fnico is an acrobat. He was trained at the Lido, where he also taught for 5 years. Ieto was created by the two artists in November 2008. In September 2010, Mosi Abdu Espinoza Navarro took over Jonathan’s role; Mosi followed different training courses at La Tarumba (Peru), at Ecole nationale des Arts du Cirque (Rosny-sous-Bois), as well as at the Lido.
