After the opening show of "La Fete" reflecting the cooperation between France and Thailand, the closing show illustrates another key element of our festival: multidisciplinary for all. The performance of Cie Montalvo-Hervieu is indeed a true blend of all genres of arts and dance. Very modern and accessible, it blends harmoniously Baroque music and Hip-hop dance, classical and modern music, video and performing arts, real and virtual images. This mixture allows us to say that "Rameau’s Bossa Fataka" is a show for young and old audience alike. Lovers of good times don't miss this show the final bouquet of "La Fete"!

Rameau’s Bossa Fataka

© L.Philippe_CCN CréteilThis mysterious and evocative title illustrates the cheerful encounter between the phonetic a poem by Hugo Ball and the name of a great eighteenth century composer, Jean-Philippe Rameau. The title is a nod to the founder of the Dada movement which offered full aesthetic of new forms as expressive collage, assemblage, photo editing and poetry of the sounds. "Rameau’s Bossa Fataka" is imaginative, extravagant and one is carried away by the hymn to the pleasure that lies at the very heart of Rameau’s philosophy and musical work. A modern vision of pleasure is offered to us by Jose Montalvo and Dominique Hervieu. Through the technological treatment of images, with editing and collages, they create, by means of a free and zany fantasy, clouds of tightrope walkers, flying carpets and other transformations. The result is surprising and beautiful with Hip-hop, ballet, contemporary and African dancers as well as chicks, elephants and kangaroos, romping, parading and playing ping-pong among the projected images.

Cie Montalvo-Hervieu (France)

José Montalvo & Dominique HervieuFrom the very start of their encounter in 1981, José Montalvo (choreographer) and Dominique Hervieu (dancer) have developed a particular type of gesture made of fluidity volatality, speed and accuracy and this will give a unique style to their productions. The beginning of an artistic adventure and a strong complicity resulted in Cie Montalvo-Hervieu foundation in 1988. Successful examples come with "Paradis" and "Le Jardin Io Io Ito Ito" (produced in 1999), and the originality of their approach is acclaimed around the world including at the BAM – New-York, at the Melbourne Inernational Festival, Romaeuropa - Rome, London Barbican Centre...). In May 2000 they composed "Variation au Paradis" for the Opening ceremony of the 53rd Cannes International Film Festival.

In May 2004, they choreographed and staged the opera of Jean-Philippe Rameau "Les Paladins", under the musical direction of William Christie Arts Florissants at the "Theatre du Châtelet" in Paris. Unanimously acclaimed by the national and international press, the performance was repeated in 2005 and 2006 in Caen, London, Shanghai, Athens, Paris and Tokyo. Subsequently, they pictured their choreographic journey to the Louvre: Dancing at the Louvre / "Carte blanche" to Cie Montalvo-Hervieu. Finally, in January 2005, their latest creation, "On danƒe", had received welcoming critics and a public’s enthusiasm.
