Portraits of shoes, Stories of feet Curator: Yves Sabourin The public of “La Fête” knows Yves Sabourin well since he had already curated two exhibitions that were well-received in Bangkok: the exhibition “Christian Lacroix: Dialogues!”, and “Métissages”. ![]()
This time around, Yves Sabourin turns his glance toward a particular piece of fashion accessory: footwear, boots and shoes.
Portraits of shoes, Stories of feet, brings together nearly sixty types of footwear from the 18th to the 21st century from the collection of the International Romans footwear Museum (one of the world’s most outstanding Museum) as well as Korean and French collections. Here is an invitation to an open look between the French artistic heritage in the field of shoes and boots and the contemporary vision of plastic artists and creators. With the shoe, we can imagine dialogues between shoes in leather or with embroideries or even sculpted, shoes with extravagant shapes or sensual, shoes from different social classes and diverse cultures. There are “fantastic” shoes from fairy tales (Cinderella, Puss in boots or the Seven League Boots), avant-garde shoes like Chanel in 1957, or the “eternal” shoes like the ballerina from the House of Repetto… Behind each shoe lies a story, a skill or a foot whose portrait this exhibition draws for us!
