The Thai artist Montri Toemsombat deals with the themes of the Buddhist practices and the transmission of knowledge .Through a series of pictorial photographs showing himself in many different angles, he unveils his aspirations and the contradictions of his inner life, in the wake of his previous pieces of work, inspired by Buddhism, the pictures of this introspection illustrate the artist’s vital necessity to blur the limits between adherence and distance, addiction and detachment.

Montri Toemsombat completed his studies at the Fine and Applied Arts Faculty, Chulalongkorn University in 1997. In 1999 he was awarded the Young Designer Award at Bangkok’s International Fashion Week and in 2000 the Fellowship programme of the Japan Foundation for a period of six months. Among his personal exhibition, Fake me, a video installation on site performance was exhibited at the Japan Foundation in Bangkok in 2002, and New Fashion Order-Dissolution, was presented at the RMIT University of Melbourne in 2005. In 2006, he presented the exhibition Inhale-Exhale, as Inter-Media on site installation and performance at the Kiasma Museum in Helsinki. He will present the works realized during his residency program in Paris at the International Arts Cité.
