Many of you already know "La Fête", have attended and have liked it, as the 43,000 visitors of
the 2006 festival shows. For those of you who still ignore it, "La Fête" was created in 2004
following the agreements made between France and Thaïland in order to strengthen the
bonds between our two countries and to develop exchanges between them. Thus, in 2006,
as a sign of reciprocity, Thailand organized its first festival in France "Tout à fait Thaï"
enabling the French audience to discover a new generation of Thai artists and to present
the cultural heritage of Thailand from a different angle.
The mixture of genres will be the festival’s creed to celebrate the cultural and artistic
diversity. Now part of Thailand’s cultural scene for its innovation and audacity, "La Fête" will
particularly honour the encounter of cultures, all cultures, being urban or classical, the Thaï
and French cultures, the culture of dance mingled with circus arts, or even the culture of
gastronomy and design. The frontiers between the different art fields will fade away by
giving birth to projects of outstanding artistic quality.
This year, "La Fête" honours His Majesty the King of Thailand on the occasion of his 80th
Birthday and a wonderful rendez-vous, "The Creatures" by the Biarritz Ballet is dedicated to
Him. This ballet draws a parallel between the origins of mankind and those of dancing. A
beautiful poetical metaphor which sets the tone for the 2007 programme. You will swing
between heaven and earth (with the 9.81Cie) to reach "Nirvana/Paradise" (with Montri
Toensombat), or dream on a "Wasteland" (with the Käfig Cie) while having your "Senseless
Essences" or while lingering about the future with "Some Proposals for the Next Future".
Once again, all the arts will be represented, from hip-hop to classical music as well as the
performing arts such as circus or cinema, the key word being the mingling of styles in order
to discover new artistic prospects!
