Partner with the French Embassy during the first two editions of 'La Fête', the Alliance Française Bangkok is proud to co-organize the 2006 edition of the French cultural festival of Bangkok, paying homage to his Majesty the King of Thailand for the 60th anniversary of His Accession to the Throne.
A unique space for dialogue between French and Thai artists, 'La Fête' meets the objectives of our association which, since its creation almost a century ago, has been to promote cross-cultural exchanges between French and Thai cultures. |

Whether it be the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra performing with the pianist Anne Queffélec or the innovative contemporary dance duo of Pichet Klunchun and Jérôme Bel, or even the Music Festival that will stage the French group Nouvelle Vague and well-known Thai musical bands such as T-Bone, Modern Dog and Mansri, the 2006 edition of « La Fête » puts a particular emphasis on artistic meetings and exchanges. Alongside these festive events, master classes offered to young Thai artists will provide opportunities to work with French artists performing in "La Fête”. Without a doubt, long-lasting collaborations will emerge from these meetings.
The Alliance brings a particular contribution in those disciplines that fit within its scope of expertise:
- Our fashion school, created 35 years ago, offers its experience and savoir-faire to the « Paris-Bangkok » fashion show, organized as the opening ceremony of the festival. On this occasion, the creations of five French designers will be displayed alongside the latest collections of Thai designers. - The third bienniale of the month of photography falls under the continuing actions taken by our institution in the field of visual arts and is based on the network of galleries with whom we have been collaborating for many years.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration « La Fête » will, this year, come closer to the public by exporting itself out of the venues traditionally dedicated to culture with the exhibit of the Thai photographer Manit Sriwanichapoom at the National Stadium BTS station and the realization of a wall painting by the French artist Ivan Fayard at Gaysorn Plaza.
Over the course of three weeks, « La Fête » will bring to the citizens of Bangkok the best of Franco-Thai contemporary culture and arts. From visual arts to performing arts, through fashion and music, over fifty projects will allow each and everyone to find their place in the 2006 edition. May all the partners and sponsors that have made this adventure a reality be cordially thanked. |
