For this solo, Philippe Decouflé wanted to create a piece which would use his body to generate new optical effects and new interactions between dance, image, light and music, producing a visual symphony this time from just one person.
For Philippe Decouflé, this is an opportunity to revisit his career as a dancer and choreographer, by shattering, deforming and replicating his image in infinite manners… The performance is a leap into the shadowy waters of his memory, its distant music is strange yet familiar and the portrait hesitant, fragile and poignant. Born in the second half of the twentieth century, Philippe Decouflé decided after his studies to become a clown …. and ended up as a dancer. Working now simultaneously as a dancer, choreographer and film maker, his creations are quite unique. With his mastery of large spaces, and his remarkable shows of movement, colour, costumes and music, it is clear his prime interest today lies in the art of the image. He has created a new form of theatre for the body, which is both intimist and poetic, and where image and reality, appearance and illusion, reflection and screen, appear side by side. |
